When the processor needs the shopper to authenticate, the create response is:

  1. Redirect the shopper’s browser to redirectUrl. The gateway’s checkout pages and the processor run the challenge.
  2. Do not treat the order as paid or failed yet.
  3. Wait for the postback, or poll a lookup by referenceCode.

The redirectUrl field you may send on the request is accepted for compatibility and not used. The shopper is always sent to the gateway’s own pages, so there is no return URL to configure. Rely on the postback or lookup for the outcome, not on the shopper coming back to your site.
